Dear Apple: iBooks is not an acceptable distribution mechanism for your reference materials.

I installed the legacy reference for Xcode 4 (because I was converting something written with Carbon and needed to know what everything does); it worked quite nicely at the time. Now, however, it seems that it has been replaced with a list of functions with little to no explanation. I have no idea what changed, but I can't help wondering if perhaps it never actually downloaded the documentation and instead connects to Apple's website.
02:01
<&McMartin>
It would not surprise me.

I was trying to find an overview of Swift, as it happens, and the only documented way to get one appears to be through iTunes.

Flipping through the Swift manual, there's not a lot here that would make me personally want to *use* it, but I hope a bunch of other people do, because it's going to be their first experience with anything remotely ML-like, and that can only be good.
03:11
<&McMartin>
Maybe it can get a larger mindshare than F#~

<@Shiz>
McMartin: swift strikes me as a compromise between ruby and objective-C
08:54
<@Shiz>
which is... very Apple of them
08:54
<@Shiz>
;p
08:57
<&McMartin>
It's got a lot more Rust in it than Ruby.
08:57
<&McMartin>
It's got ML/Haskell style type inference and type system, but with ObjC grafted in, more or less

I wonder if newer versions of XCode fix it hanging if you have the mouse pressed at the point when it wants to switch screens according to your "Behaviours" settings...

I now need descriptive names for all these patterns (except the green ones at right and the tiny ones below that): https://github.com/calref/cboe/blob/master/rsrc/graphics.exd/mac/pixpats.png

< Julius>
Second row: White tiles with coffee stain, red veined rock, rough black rock, wood mosaic, wtf is that...
21:36
< Julius>
Third row: Checkerboard, alternative marble, damascene tile, gray rock, I don't even...
21:36
<@gnolam>
... aaand coming back to this backscroll, I did not read "rock".
21:37
<@celticminstrel>
The "I don't even" is one I don't need names for, and your "wtf is that" is actually for patterns of which I only need names for three.

The one you called sandstone, I kinda think it looks papery.
