01:00 * gnolam stabs the GIMP with something blunt and painful.

God. Every single tool in that program sucks.

gnolam: You should stop using software. I have not heard of one piece of it you actually like.
01:46
< gnolam>
Inkscape.
01:46
< gnolam>
I like Inkscape.
01:49
< gnolam>
It has a bunch of flaws - its unit handling is awful and inconsistent, it has a bunch of GTK+ input flaws, "text on path" is a PITA, its plugins are clunky and lack in usability, it's rather unstable etc.
01:49
< gnolam>
But still. I like it. :)
01:50
< gnolam>
But that's the one shining UI star among open source projects.
01:56

I very /nearly/ like Sketchup. All it would need is locking to planes instead of just axes, a better UV mapper, and fixing the @#£$&¤! face creation bugs.

< gnolam>
Speaking of Sketchup:

Got the model done at last.

I never had any particular problems locking to planes?
02:20
<@Vornicus>
And that's a very shiny model. I need to learn Sketchup properly.

You can lock to cardinal directions or the current edge direction with shift, and it does a /decent/ job at locking onto the planes of faces as long as you only attempt draw within that face. But there's no general locking to planes (e.g. locking to the plane defined by the current start point and, say, the red axis).
02:31
< gnolam>
Thanks.
02:31
< gnolam>
But mostly it's its face creation bugs that have been driving me insane.
02:32
< gnolam>
Or sometimes face /separation/. But I assume they have the same underlying causes.

gnolam: I wish Sketchup would accept the concept that I have a /plan view diagram/ I am trying to use as a reference point, not a 3D perspective photo.
