The "best" part is that they backported the export to a previous version to fix a minor bug

16:21 * abudhabi ponders.
16:23
< abudhabi>
Is there some appreciably universal laptop power adapter, at least within the 230V standard? I have four laptops, and only two of them are the same brand, and none of them have similar adapters.
16:29
< abudhabi>
(Is there some initiative to standardize laptop power like there is for phones?)
16:30
<&ToxicFrog>
Some manufacturers appear to be moving to USBC, since it can (sometimes) deliver enough power for that

My Dell work laptop uses that approach. It uses USB-C for everything.
16:38
<@macdjord>
abudhabi: There are 'universal' adapters on the market; they generally come with exchangeable plugs on the DC end to fit different brands. Note that such units are generally restricted to a single choice of output voltage, and also some manufactures put DRM in their power bricks to ensure you can only use OEM equipment (in the name of protecting your battery from shoddy 3rd-party converts, of course, we swear)
16:38
< abudhabi>
Whereas my Dell gaming laptop has a 240W flattened brick for a power adapter.
16:40 * abudhabi just buys another one of those for use when traveling, so I don't have to mess with the wiring at the workstation whenever I take it or put it back.
21:50
< Alek>
what I've seen of the USB-C powered laptops is they share one port for charging and for everything else.
21:50
< Alek>
which isn't any different from phones and tablets, but imho laptops should be big enough for multiple ports.
21:50
< Alek>
and tablets also should be big enough for 2 ports, at least.
