LEFT OUTER JOIN yes
00:27
<&Reiver>
And it's because a lot of systems can optimise for joins when they are less friendly to subqueries, it can be fine but, y'know, variance etc

Window functions are crazy and cool.

<&Reiver>
They really are quite nice

< synapse>
we've just got a new project manager at $WORK and have been mandated to switch to Jira and SCRUM.
12:34
< synapse>
ironically but understandably, the people who hate this the most (me and one other senior dev) also have the most experience with it.
12:35
< synapse>
after 3 weeks, we have attempted 3 sprint planning meetings that devolved into questioning the system
12:35
< synapse>
eventually, the project manager just started the sprint even though half the developers have 0 tasks, and half the developers have too many tasks (not prioritised yet)
12:36
< synapse>
the CTO and the project manager defined a bunch of "epics", but they are all timeless and should have been tags instead of epics, so developers keep saying "I don't know what taxonomy level to put my work into, because a Story should fit within a sprint, but my task sets are clearly 3-4 weeks."
14:26
< synapse>
it is a strange feeling to both object to using a tool, and teach your peers how to use it, at the same time.
