Can ubuntu-based Linux systems send notifications to each other over LAN?
12:14
<&[R]>
Not by default
12:14
<&[R]>
AFAIK
12:45
<@sshine>
abudhabi_, ping? :P
12:48
<@sshine>
abudhabi_, there's no direct support. when I search around, I get various slightly unsatisfactory solutions. e.g. python -m SimpleHTTPServer, which seems simple enough.
12:49
<@sshine>
wait, that's 'python -m http.server' on modern python 3.
12:49
<@sshine>
so, cd somewhere && python -m http.server
13:40

Anyone know where I can get a really old version of Flash player? I need to view a couple old animations, but it appears the person who created them messed up their version check, because when I try to open them, I just get a message saying 'This animation isn't compatible with Flash 6; upgrade to Flash 8'.
16:12
<@TheWatcher>
https://archive.org/details/flashplayerarchive ?
16:13
<@TheWatcher>
Though that looks like it only goes back to 10
16:13
<~Vornicus>
should do probably
16:15
<@TheWatcher>
https://archive.org/details/flashplayerarchivedversions2 has bato 4 from the looks

<@macdjord>
TheWatcher: Your first link has what appears to be Player 8, but the installer doesn't work. Your second has several versions of FP 8, but AFAICT they are all for Android or Mac.
17:05
<@macdjord>
abudhabi_: That's the full Flash editor, which is a bit overkill, but it works. Thanks!
17:07
< abudhabi_>
HTH.

abudhabi_: KDE Connect has an option for sharing notifications, between multiple Linux PCs and also Android devices
17:23
< FLHerne>
(it does work with non-KDE desktops)
17:25
< FLHerne>
lots of other nice sync features too

17:35
< abudhabi_>
FLHerne: Interesting.
17:36
< FLHerne>
abudhabi_: You'll have to enable "Send Notifications" in the settings on each PC, it's only enabled by default on mobile devices

19:03
<@macdjord>
Kizor: That is exactly what I'm looking for, except its version 6; I need 8.
19:04
<@macdjord>
Though it's not urgent anymore; the ful editor version likned by abudhabi_ worked (even if i did have to Yarr a registration code)
19:04
< Kizor>
ffffffffFFFFFFFFFFF. How about http://www.oldversion.com/windows/macromedia-flash-player-8-0-24-0 ?
19:07
<@macdjord>
Kizor: No joy. That just installs a DLL, not a standalone executable player.
19:11
<@macdjord>
(The Google Drive link, for reference, *is* a standalone player executable.)
19:11
< Kizor>
Dang. Well, I'm of no help in getting you the standalone player - I have no idea where I got the one for version 6, I picked it up some years ago to help decorate Win98 & XP VMs with .swfs for All Your Base and badgers.
19:12
<&McMartin>
Presumably also mushrooms
19:13
< Kizor>
At the proper 12:2 ratio, yes.
