<&McMartin>
This is a tale for, among others, Mahal and TheWatcher: https://threader.app/thread/1063423110513418240
08:43
< Mahal>
I read that earlier!! It us very good
08:44
<&McMartin>
:D
08:45
<&McMartin>
I was ranting at a (nerdy) birthday party about how 3 years of professional macOS/iOS development had turned me into an MS apologist, and noting that a lot of Windows weirdness was it adhering to things that were open standards 25 years ago and then staying there for 30
08:45
<&McMartin>
And was halfway through explaining how setuid was "backwards" on Windows with impersonation tokens and how that had impacts on domain controllers when my interlocutor stopped me and said "This sounds really familiar and I need to find something"
08:45
<&McMartin>
He then forwarded me that
08:45
<&McMartin>
I then said "I need to send this to several people"
08:46
<&McMartin>
But I see it has made the rounds :D
08:46
< Mahal>
An online acquaintance is a physical pentenster
08:47
< Mahal>
He was, not too unusually, hanging in Slack while hiding in a corporate bathroom recently
08:47
< Mahal>
Then went uncharacteristically silent
08:47
< Mahal>
He was being politely escorted from the premises
08:47
< Mahal>
:D
08:48
< Mahal>
(He spoke at the security con. His topic was "selfies in server rooms" as that is his preferred evidence for CISOs.)
08:49
< Mahal>
We also had a speaker who discussed the sundry benefits of hacking vs physical security, using his personal ducati as the reference point
08:49
< Mahal>
Eg one can do fancy difficult thjngs to interrupt the immobilisers operation
08:49
< Mahal>
Or one can remove two 3ml hex screws and remove it
08:50
< Mahal>
It was extremely enjoyable not least as he had bought the ducati onstage to perform a live demonstration~
08:50
<&McMartin>
Nice

He has three.
09:03
< Mahal>
He a
09:03
<&McMartin>
Past a certain point this seems excessive
09:03
< Mahal>
He also decided that instead of buying the 3k ducati diagnostic kits he would write his own with the aid of a $4 AliExpress cable.
09:03
< Mahal>
This is how he managed to tweak 10% more performance out of it.
09:04
< Mahal>
(The bike was an insurance write off he purchased and unbuggrred)
09:05
< Mahal>
He did also suggest that any parents in the room concerned that their children may acquire an interest in drugs interest them in mechanics first, as then they would not have any funds available to buy drugs for approximately the next 42 years.

Probably
13:52
<&VirusJTG>
correct
13:53
<&VirusJTG>
usualy refers to Chief Information Security Officer.

<~Vornicus>
? I don't know what you're up to there but jquery uses a two-step selector process sometimes, for "delegated" events; helpful when you have dynamically added objects that you need to give events, but it's always the same events for things that match the same selector

Vornicus: <McMartin> This is a tale for, among others, Mahal and TheWatcher: https://threader.app/thread/1063423110513418240
15:50
<~Vornicus>
....geeeenerally you limit it to a particular element in the first place, because you don't want all your delegated events to recheck everywhere
15:51
<~Vornicus>
also that is strange
